Our group of experienced Physicians provide expert consultation in the diagnosis, management, exclusion or prevention of infection in adult patients.
These include common community acquired infections (e.g. boils, recurrent urinary infections, cellulitis or Helicobacter pylori), complex implantable device infections, infections due to resistant microbes or infections in immunocompromised patients.
Infections we manage
Our physicians are Fellowship-trained infectious diseases specialists consulting from the Mater Private Hospital Specialist Suites in Southport. We see adult patients referred from across the Gold Coast and Northern New South Wales.
- Bone, joint and prosthetic joint infection
- Infective endocarditis and cardiac device infection
- Antibiotic-resistant and multidrug-resistant infections
- Cellulitis, boils and recurrent skin infections
- Recurrent urinary tract infections
- Diabetic foot infection

- Tuberculosis and pre-biologic screening
- Travel medicine and fever in the returned traveller
- Complex and specialised infection services
- Outpatient IV antibiotics (OPAT)
We also see patients with Helicobacter pylori that has not responded to treatment, prolonged fever of unclear cause, infection in immunocompromised patients, and infection risk before planned surgery.
Our physicians
Dr Peter Simos — Infectious Diseases Physician. Special interests in bloodstream infection, infective endocarditis, multidrug-resistant organisms and diabetic foot infection. Founder of the Gold Coast Diabetic Foot Multidisciplinary Clinic.
Dr Burcu Isler — Infectious Diseases Physician. Special interests in antibiotic-resistant bloodstream infection and prosthetic device infection. PhD in antimicrobial resistance, The University of Queensland.
Dr Lee Forman — Infectious Diseases and General/Acute Care Physician. Gold Coast born and raised. Clinical Educator of the Year (QLD), 2024.

A current referral addressed to our rooms, or to one of our specialists by name, is required before an appointment can be arranged. Our team reviews each referral to determine whether we are able to accept it.
